Lighten the document.

PDF compression

Lighten your documents. Compress embedded images while keeping text, or re-encode scans. Files stay local.

Local processing · No uploadsPDF · No fixed size limit; depends on your device

Recompress supported embedded JPEGs while preserving text, vectors and layout. PNG and other formats stay as-is. Already optimized images may not shrink further.

Saving again may invalidate digital signatures. Keep the original file.

A lighter document.

Choose the right compression mode. Your original stays on your device; review the result yourself.

How to use

  1. Choose a local PDF file.
  2. Choose structure optimization or scan mode and set the resolution.
  3. Compare sizes, preview and download the result.

Useful details

  • Recompress embedded JPEGs while preserving text and vector content.
  • Choose resolution, image quality and grayscale for scanned pages.
  • Compare actual file sizes, keep the original and cancel processing.

Good to know

How does structure mode compress images?

Structure mode recompresses supported embedded JPEGs while retaining text, vectors and layout. PNG, CMYK, masked images and images with special decoding parameters are skipped. Scan mode rasterizes pages, so text is no longer searchable.

Will the file always get smaller?

An optimized PDF may not get smaller. Larger results are clearly marked; adjust scan settings or keep the original.

Are encrypted and signed files supported?

Encrypted PDFs are not supported. Saving again may invalidate digital signatures. Keep the original; signed files should not be processed.

Are there size limits?

There are no fixed file-size or page-count limits. Parsing and compression run locally; actual capacity depends on available memory. Scan mode processes pages one at a time and limits each page’s pixel count.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Parsing and compression run locally in your browser. File names and PDF content are excluded from analytics and released when the page closes.
